Towards the 2020 Population Census (SP2020), BPS-Probolinggo Municipality Goes to Campus

‘Census' is a word that is synonymous with BPS. Yes, census is one of the main activities of BPS. In 2020, BPS will conduct a seventh population census (after Indonesia's independence). Unlike the previous population census, the 2020 population census will use the combined method. Using registration based data, residents can participate in the Online Population Census through the https://sensus.bps.go.id page. This online population census will be held from 15 February 2020 and ends on 31 March 2020.

Toward the 2020 online population census, BPS-Probolinggo Municipality carried out various activities in order to socialize the population census to the wider community, especially to community in Probolinggo Municipality. Starting from established the SP2020 Command Headquarter at the office of BPS-Probolinggo Municipality up to held the event BPS-Probolinggo Municipality Goes to Campus.

BPS-Probolinggo Municipality had the opportunity to visit the two big campuses in Probolinggo Municipality in the context of the online SP2020 socialization Two campuses visited were the Muhammadiyyah Islamic High School (STAIM) Probolinggo on November 30 and the Bayuangga Probolinggo College of Administrative Sciences (STIA) on December 6, 2019.

Excellent technological literacy, close relations with the digital world, and the stigma that students are the drivers of change, are the main reasons why the socialization of the Online Population Census (SPO) is targeting students.

The event which was led directly by the Head of BPS-Probolinggo Municipality was also attended by the Chancellor and lecturers in each campus, the Head of the Information and Communication Service, and the Head of the Population and Civil Registration Service of Probolinggo Municipality as the speaker.

In front of the students, the Head of BPS-Probolinggo Municipality explained the importance of quality data for national development and its contribution in determining the right policy. And of course, students as millennials play an important role. This statement is in line with what was said by the campus rector, and two heads of local government services who were invited.
